Our Story

Fitness has been a major part of my entire life. From little league to collegiate basketball, I’ve had to sharpen my fitness attributes in order to compete. I furthered this desire and passion for all things fitness by graduating with a degree in physical and health education. From there I started working my way up through health clubs like the YMCA, Anytime Fitness, and Family Fun & Fitness.

But a funny thing happened. I was constantly around fitness but was losing my own fitness. I found it hard to stay motivated even though I was always in the gym. And even though I was responsible for thousands of members, after 20 years in the health club industry I saw that the club’s clients were bored too. They would start up with excitement in January and usually fall off before Spring Break in March.

I did not want to be a part of this cycle. I didn’t want this for my clients, and I didn’t want this for ME AND MY FAMILY…

So I left my position as GM and started on my own.

Before I started training clients again, I wanted to understand my fitness passions and what would motivate me to keep at it week after week.

Enter Spartan Race…

A friend of mine invited me to my first Spartan Race in Indiana in 2012. It was something that intrigued me, excited me, and even scared me a little. It was an event in which you need both the ability to run 5 miles and the strength to conquer many other obstacles and tasks (and a fearlessness to take on the unknown!).

My training block up to the race went AMAZINGLY WELL. I was in the best shape I had been since college! And I wasn’t one-sided like I’d been in most events. I was ready, and I was happy to do the training.

After the race, I evaluated why the training block had gone so well. I had a EUREKA moment. I had enjoyed the training because I was getting ready for an ADVENTURE! It was something that challenged me and had a deadline. The desired results could be outlined. It included accountability to do the work and was something that I wanted to enjoy, so I was willing to put in the work to be ready for it.

This SECRET SAUCE of setting my sights on an ADVENTURE GOAL was exactly how I wanted to help others achieve their dreams and not get lost on the way to better health.

ADVENTURE FIT was born…

Over the past 10+ years, I’ve helped 100s of clients set and achieve ADVENTURE GOALS. Some goals have been beyond their wildest dreams, like hiking mountains, touring foreign countries, and completing unbelievable races. Others have been life-changing adventures, like getting ready to have a baby, being able to play soccer with a grandchild, passing a physical fitness test for a job, and honoring a deceased lover by spreading ashes on a secluded island. We’ve had adventures for scholarships, for enjoying beach vacations, for beating bad habits, for beating fears, and for many more awesome achievements.

Fitness and health are hard if you don’t have a purpose tied to a timeline to keep you accountable.

Even if you don’t think you have a worthy Adventure Goal, let’s chat and see what you want to do, how you want to do it, and when you are going to do it.

Life is an ADVENTURE so you had better get FIT for it!
